| Your Branch committee is trying to develop further regional services that will assist members in their professional career. As part of this development we are proposing the following initiatives that we hope will be useful to YOU our members. Please take the time to consider these carefully and let us know if you wish to participate Finding dispute resolution practitioners We are considering the introduction of a facility for potential clients and disputing parties to search on our website for a suitable member of SE Branch to act as Arbitrator, Adjudicator, Mediator, Expert, etc. It is probable that there will be two 'search' criteria - Profession and Type of Work Undertaken. We intend to use 'pull down' lists and therefore invite interested members to let us know their particular needs. We expect to permit two 'professions' and (probably) four 'work types'. It is also probable that the full details of each member will be comprehensive while allowing minimal contact details. Please either e-mail to Peter Horne on peter.horne@arbitrate.org.uk with your proposals for Profession (e.g. Civil Engineer, Solicitor) and Work Type (e.g. Domestic Building, Highways, Negligence, Major Building, etc.) and any further comment you may wish to make. Alternatively, and preferably, a facility is now available for you to do this directly on the web site. We do not guarantee that any proposals will appear in the final document but your chance to make your views known is now. Mentoring Scheme We are considering setting up a mentoring scheme whereby experienced members can offer advice and assistance on an ad hoc basis to those needing it. If you are interested in participating is such a scheme by giving advice as a mentor, or receiving it, or both, please email your details to mentoring@arbitrate.org.uk. If we get enough interest from members we will then be able to set up a scheme. Peter Horne |
