Saturday 25th June 2005 BRANCH SUMMER OUTING PETWORTH HOUSE AND PARK, PETWORTH, WEST SUSSEX Petworth House is one of the finest properties in the care of the National Trust in the South of England. The vast late seventeenth-century mansion is set in a beautiful park landscaped by 'Capability' Brown and immortalised in Turner's paintings. The house contains the Trust's finest and largest collection of pictures, with numerous works by Turner, Van Dyck, Reynolds and Blake, as well as ancient and neo-classical sculpture, fine furniture and carvings by Grinling Gibbons. The Servants' Quarters contain fascinating kitchens and other service rooms. Outside, there's the 700-acre Deer Park and an eighteenth-century woodland garden in the Pleasure Ground. And of course, there's Petworth itself, a short stroll away - a charming medieval town, renowned for its many antique shops (over 30 and counting). We will start with tea/coffee at 11.00 in the Audit Room Restaurant. There will then be time to visit the House and we can join tours of both the Estate Offices (showing work in progress) and Below Stairs. There will be a pre-booked two-course lunch in the Servants Quarters (menu available nearer the time, so please include your e-mail address). Finally, for those of a certain generation, there is an open-air concert in the evening with the legendary Van Morrison - tickets sold separately (subject to availability) via www.nationaltrust.org.uk SUMMER OUTING BOOKING FORM Click here to Download this form Saturday 25th June 2005 Name: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
