Opinion - Editorial

I am pleased to say that I was sufficiently controversial in my last Editorial to get some feedback from our readers, and none of it was too abusive! Two of the letters I received are printed elsewhere in this issue. The excitement has been too much for me and so I am going to be on my best behaviour this time. Another reason may be that we have a packed issue this time and I do not have a lot of space to fill (always an editor's main ambition).

Following on from this editorial your Branch Committee has spent some time discussing the format of future meetings. The first and most important change you will notice in the autumn will be that we intend to vary our venue. We will, of course, remain in Reigate for some of our meetings, but others will be held elsewhere in the Tonbridge area. At the moment it looks likely that we will settle on the Rose and Crown in Tonbridge High Street, which is reasonably easy to get to. Further details of this will be given in our next issue.

You will also notice some changes to the format of the meeting. In future tea, coffee and biscuits will be available before the meeting, giving those members who are not staying for the dinner a chance to socialise with their colleagues before the meeting. In addition the members of your Branch Committee will be available to chat to attendees and discuss any issues you have with the branch. We will be the ones wearing the silly name badges, so if you see us looking lonely please take pity on us and talk to us.
