A MESSAGE FROM YOUR NEW EDITOR
I am pleased to accept the baton of editorship
from my friend Murray Armes in the continuation of News and Views for the next
two years as of January 2010, and in my sharing with Murray his good belief of
the benefit this well respected and well read publication brings to our branch
members, I would like to take this opportunity of thanking him kindly for his
steadfast work which I shall do my best to maintain.
This Institute of all professional bodies enjoys a
great membership of experts from so many disciplines it is my true hope to
attract a wide and varied number of articles for publication, from the profound
to the more gently amusing. For myself in this respect I offer an early
experience in my career in the Local Valuation Court on a Rating Valuation
Appeal when a barrister eloquently asked an expert friend a rather complicated
question that took very many minutes to relate. It took him though just a few
seconds to rather more eloquently repeat through fear of trespassing upon
eternity, when the expert explained the great difficulty he was having with his
hearing aid.
What joy though in learning from the experiences
of others as well as our own indeed as I do on a daily basis in my own dark art
of rights of light if not settling the statutory matters pertaining to building
on or about and quite close to the boundary line in central London.
Please do all come forward and share with us your
experiences and ask questions in our exploration of good jurisprudence in the
context of Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Management, for this is what I
believe our 'News & Views' is surely all about, and you will find me at:
